An interesting guy who often gets mistaken for a very serious person, Yasir enjoys a wide variety of activities both inside and outside of work. Yasir’s client had this to say about him: “Yasir is not just an awesome developer, but an awesome TEAM member! He doesn’t just put out quality work that is well thought out, he makes those he works with better. He is never afraid to ask questions and try new things in order to make any project the best it can be. He has knocked out a couple of projects for me that were for Fortune 100 clients who were very impressed with the final product. I have 100% confidence that anything I throw at him will be accomplished at a very high quality.”
His Team Lead, Nasir, told us: “Yasir is a very talented guy. When a task is assigned to him, then you don’t need to worry about it, since he will always deliver quality work. His ability to not only learn the skill quickly, but to adapt it using the best practices possible has earned him an excellent reputation with his client. His client is a fan of his work and always throws at him his most complex problems because he knows that Yasir will deliver the best solution. He is a good team player and a mentor and always helps anyone who requires help from him. I am very honored to have him in my team and I wish him the best of luck.”
Let’s start with your educational background and why you chose a career in IT.
I graduated from SZABIST University in 2004 with a major in software engineering, but my first encounter with the IT field was way back in 1993 when I enrolled in a computer diploma course. Straight away I fell in love with software and computers.
So, did you always love computers? Or did not have much experience with them before you started taking classes?
The first time I saw a computer was during my diploma course. I had never even heard the word computer before that.
So what made you choose to study them? Did you think you’d like a job in IT?
Well, in that IT diploma course I realized that all of it came very naturally to me. Before that, I was a very average student who scored average grades, but for the first time I started getting top-notch grades. I even really started to enjoy studying and taking exams. I scored third in the province on my final exams and second at the institute. I never looked back or looked at any other filed other than IT.
How have you enjoyed working with our company?
I have loved every bit of it. There are many things I like about working here. It’s great to work with people from the US and interact with them in an open and cordial way on daily basis. That is one of the top things I like. It’s not just the professional talk, but also casual interaction on the sidelines that I really like.
Tell us about your family. What do you like to together in free time?
My father was a retired banker and he passed away some years back. My mother is a retired teacher with master’s degree in history. What I am today and whatever I have achieved are all because of my parents. I have two brothers, one is married and has two beautiful children and other one is still unmarried. I like to spend the majority of my free time with my family. We are a close-knit family and always celebrate religious, personal, and social events together. As a family we are not very outgoing, but we love to get together and enjoy each other’s company.
Tell us about your own personal hobbies and interests.
I love watching movies, TV series, documentaries, and playing computer games. I have a huge collection of them. I love cars that are fast, luxurious, brimming with the latest technologies, and insanely expensive. I love perfumes and fragrances and like to collect and use them. I rarely leave home without wearing one. I like to fix things in my spare time. Whatever needs repairing whether it be a leaky tap, electrical wiring, home appliance, my car I’ll try it myself before calling for help. The majority of the time I don’t need to call a repairman.
My favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, Inception, Harry Porter, The Dark Knight, Forest Gump, to name few. As for colors I like white, sky blue, and red. I like many food but my favorite Pakistani foods are mutton, fish, rice, lentils, veggies, and BBQ. I love it all. I like Chinese food too like chow mein, soups, and rice dishes.
Have you traveled to any interesting places?
Not many, but I did visit breathtaking mountains pass and valleys of Kashmir. I also traveled to the majestically beautiful and unbelievably scenic northern areas of Pakistan from time to time. I also traveled, lived, and worked in the UK. I visited many cities like London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Birmingham.
Where would you like to go next?
Top of the list is to go to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. And then…I love to go on a drive through Europe starting from Norway to Sweden to Denmark. Then I would blast at top speed through Germany on its autobahns then cross the Alps to Switzerland. After that I’d drive to Venice and Florence and cross Italy. Next would be France and driving through the French Riviera through Monte Carlo towards the Spanish Riviera, and finally ending at Gibraltar.
Yasir loves sports and enjoys watching formula one racing, cricket, soccer hockey, tennis, and many more. If he could have any super power it would be to spread common sense all over the world.
