|Time with Allshore:||4 Years|
Raheel K., known around the office as RK, has been with Allshore/Datum for over four years, and has been a Team Lead for three years. One of RK’s clients told us: “RK is an excellent leader. He keeps the developers on track and works hard to ensure tasks are completed quickly and precisely. He has a great sense of humor which makes for excellent working conditions. We are so glad to have him on our team.”
Datum’s CEO, Raheel, said this about RK: “Rk is one of the older members of our management team. He is very dedicated to his work. His aesthetic sense helps us a lot when it comes to office renovation, Datum’s website design, or other motivational ideas. He is a true team player and a very good manager. He often offers dinner to his team and takes them to the movies. It’s great to have him among us.”
We talked with RK more to learn more about him.
So, what is your favorite part about working with Allshore/Datum?
I am growing. I am learning not only programming languages but a lot of other things as well. I think that is the best part. I have learned programming, management, project management, and lot about HR.
Did you work with any clients outside of Pakistan before starting with Allshore?
Yes, I always have worked with clients outside Pakistan. I worked mostly with UK and US based clients. My last client was based in California, and before that I worked with a Minnesota based company. I enjoy working with US based clients because they understand more about software development and its business model.
What first got you interested in the IT field?
When I came out of high school, the trend was that people used to join either Pre-Engineering or Pre-Medical courses. However, IT degrees were new in those years, so I opted for the IT field.
So tell us RK, what personal interests and hobbies do you have?
Well, my personal interests are becoming more limited with each passing day. The only real extra curricular activity I am left with is bodybuilding. I used to do it a lot, but now I am limited to 40 minutes of gym time.
Have you ever been in a competition?
I have participated in 3 championships. I stood first in Mr. Rawalpindi, which was at the District level. I was also first in Mr. Zone, which was at the Divisional level. Then, I won the silver medal in Mr. Punjab, which was a competition for the whole province. I started going to a gym back in 2004, and had to stop for seven odd months because of a surgery I went through to remove my appendix. I also had a serious back injury in 2010, and my doctor recommended at least ten days of bed rest.
If you had more time, what would your interests and hobbies include other than body building?
It would have been more bodybuilding. I used to play a lot of cricket in my teen years, but I do not like it anymore. I also love to travel with my family and friends, so I enjoy short trips on the weekends.
Have you travelled to any interesting places in the past?
Not many unfortunately, just some northern areas of Pakistan and few areas of Kashmir. Both of them are hilly, green, and very beautiful.
I’d like to visit Las Vegas and Germany.
What is your favorite: color, movie, and restaurant?
My favorite color is black, and my favorite movie is The Matrix. My favorite restaurant is Cave. Its decor is like you have entered a cave, and the waiters look like zombies. It’s totally dark, and I have never seen lights lit there.
If you were stuck on an island what are three things you would want with you?
I would want a girl, a laptop, and a pair of dumbbells.
RK is active around the office, and recently gave the Islamabad developers a quick how-to demonstration of the office’s new gym equipment. If he could have any super hero power it would be Superman’s, because he would love to fly and have immense power.
